After garnering some additional attention from carriers for Windows Phone 7, Microsoft is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to help promote Windows Phone 8, which is due out later this year. Verizon’s Chief Financial Officer, Fran Shammo said that Verizon is looking to make Windows Phone their third platform behind iOS and Android.

“We’re really looking at the Windows Phone 8.0 platform because that’s a differentiator. We’re working with Microsoft on it”

While the Windows Phone platform continues to grow it will be interesting to see what other interest they can garner as time gets closer to Windows 8.0 holiday release.

Rumors are constantly flooding the web, its part of the technology world. But what we just stumbled upon may be more then just a rumor. A Vietnamese site has just posted a video of them playing around with the new Samsung Galaxy S III.

Google hooks up Sprint with the Galaxy Nexus, Amazon offering Verizon Galaxy Nexus for $100

Smartphone Briefs

By Chris Coleman|@PhoneKnack

Google has pushed out a signup page for the upcoming Sprint Galaxy Nexus which leads us to believe that Sprint’s Galaxy Nexus is one step closer to being released. What we can tell you for sure is that unlike the Verizon version, the Sprint model will feature Google Wallet; which is a huge bonus for Sprint users. If you are a Sprint user with an available upgrade, or one coming up soon, we suggest you hold off, because the Galaxy Nexus is arguably one of the best phones out on the market.

Amazon is now offering the Galaxy Nexus for $100 to new customers. So if you have been thinking about making the switch to Verizon, now is the time. Amazon is offering current Verizon customers the Galaxy Nexus for $260. Take advantage of this deal as soon as possible, who knows how long it will last.

I arrived at the local Verizon store at 7:40 a.m. this morning for the official Verizon iPhone launch. My arrival was well in advance of the store’s normal business hours. The store was well staffed with many associates available and ready to help customers. I was promptly greeted as I entered.

Amazon has teamed up with Verizon Wireless to present what arguably is this years most exciting smartphone offer!

The offer includes a Palm Pre Plus smartphone for 1 cent  ($549 retail without a contract) in exchange for signing a 2 year service contract. As if that wasn’t incentive enough Verizon will waive the $40 monthly fee to turn your Palm Pre Plus or Palm Pixi Plus into a 3G mobile hotspot. The hotspot software allows your Pre to connect up to five Wifi enabled devices. A great way to provide Internet access to your new iPad, netbook or notebook while on the road. The data plan for the phone is unlimited but the hotspot service has a 5gb cap after which you are charged for the overage.

Check the site for costs and additional details!
