by George Heymann | @techeadlines

Special to the Chieftain

There are now more than 100 million smartphone users in the United States, according to the latest comScore report.

But even as smartphone use increases, the devices are undergoing dramatic — and speedy —evolution. Here’s a look at several prominent mobile trends that are emerging:

  • Smartphones are featuring ever-faster processors, Dual-core processors once reserved for the latest super phones are now standard fare on many smartphones. By the end of 2012, manufacturers will need to include a quad-core processor to be considered a high-end mobile device.
  • Large, high-resolution touchscreens are also in high demand on the latest smartphones and tablets. Not long ago, a 4-inch screen on a smartphone was considered large; today, 4-inch-plus screens are fairly common, with a couple of models topping 5 inches and featuring high-resolution, 1280 x 800 pixel displays. Music Purchases are going live in the Android Market mobile app for some U.S. users

by George Heymann

Technology-Headlines

I’ve seen posts today that the music purchases had gone live in the Android Market app for some U.S. users . Unfortunately, I could not see the music tab in the Market app installed on my HTC Sensation 4G app despite it being upgraded to the latest version.

If you’ve already updated to 3.3.11 and still don’t have the music tab don’t despair, the solution may be as simple as flushing the cache and clearing the data for the Android Market app.

From your phones home screen, hit the menu key and select settings. Tap manage applications, select the “All” tab and scroll down till you see Market and select that. Select clear cached, then clear data. Exit the manage application menu and return to the Android home screen. Click on the Android Marketplace app and accept the terms of service.

10 words that describe my home internet service

By Christine Kane

internetserviceproviders.org

Boiling down the description of an internet connection to a single word means distilling thought and emotion to bare essences. It is much easier to convey negative feelings, which our language makes easy, with it’s plethora of interjections. Good feelings, on the other hand, are more difficult to express. Below are some examples of terse commentary as they apply to the nebulous world of internet connections.
