Livin’ large with the 5.3” Galaxy Note

 Is that a large smartphone in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

By now those of you interested in the Galaxy Note, have probably already looked at the phone statistics and any number of reviews. Rather than just give you my initial impressions, What I’d like to do do is to give you some insight on what it’s like to live with the rather large but svelte member of the Samsung family.

There is almost no getting around the fact the phone is large, the Galaxy Note sports a 5.3″ WXGA (1280 x 800, 285 PPI) HD Super Amoled screen. For me the size has been more of an asset than a detriment in day to day use. The extra screen real estate on the Note has made mobile web browsing productive and for the first time for me on a smartphone, enjoyable!

LSDroid offers free lifetime licenses of Cerberus anti-theft app in celebration of reaching 100,000 user mark.

LS Droid is offering free lifetime licenses of Cerberus an Android anti-theft app through February 29 in celebration of reaching the 100,000 user milestone.

In order to take advantage of the offer, download the app which normally includes a 1 week free trial and register an account including your desired username, password and email address within the application. Then fill out this Cerberus Google docs file, all licenses will be activated on March 1.

The license will be associated with your Cerberus account, you can protect up to 5 devices per account.

SuperOneClick upgraded to V2.3.3 released provides 1-click root/unroot for most Android handsets!

Senior Xda-developer member CLShortFuse continues to improve his excellent Android app SuperOneClick. SuperOneClick provides a one-click root/unroot that works on most Android handsets/OS versions. The file size for the latest version (2.3.3) jumped up to 10mb and now integrates the driver installation. The driver folder is now included with the latest ADB drivers from Google

You MUST put your phone in USB debugging mode and make sure you DO NOT mount your SD card. Go to “settings>applications>development” to select “USB debugging.” You can download a copy of the latest version of SuperOneClick from XDA-developers here. You must register on the XDA site in order to download the file.

Installation error: “Couldn’t install on USB storage or SD card” solution for Android

I started receiving installation errors on my recently purchased Android phone which wouldn’t allow me to install some apps on my phone nor let me update others. Other applications, however, installed normally.

What really was puzzling is that in all three cases, there was ample space on the internal phone memory as well as the SD card storage.

Windows Phone 7 SD card performance requirements and limitations!

There has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about how Windows Phone 7 (WP7) handsets use SD card memory to expand system memory. According to a recent Microsoft support document WP7 treats SD card memory as a permanent integrated component of your phone and not as removable expandable storage.
