The latest rumor making the rounds around the Internet is that Samsung is including a Super AMOLED Plus display which would allow the Galaxy S III to showcase its 4.65inch screen at 720p HD resolution. You may be wondering what in the world a smartphone 720p HD display even looks like, well here is a side by side comparison.

The difference between the two is very clear and quite stunning.

With that being said, we can most likely expect the Samsung Galaxy III to be hitting stores sometime in May as AsiaE has reported that carrier testing is currently underway.

Social virtual goods revenues generated via mobile devices to reach $3b in 2011 rising to $4.6 billion in 2016

A new report from Juniper Research finds that soaring usage of social gaming – driven largely by the sharp rise in smartphone adoption – will push the global market for virtual goods bought from mobile social media services from $3 billion this year to $4.6 billion by 2016.

The report found that sales of virtual goods via mobile social media services are flourishing in Japan and China; as social gaming familiarizes consumers with virtual goods, this trend will quickly become global. Increasing tablet usage is also expected to provide further momentum as these devices offer a significantly better user experience for social gaming than smartphones.

Some Dell Streak 7 WiFi owners starting to receive 3.2 upgrade to Honeycomb

It appears that some Dell Streak 7 (WiFi) owners have received an update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb in advance of the rumored October 7th release date.

As expected the update is said to factory wipe all data prior to the Honeycomb installation. The update appears to be rolling out slowly, I’m still waiting for the update for my tablet.

Early reports from users who have received the update on the Dell support forums have indicated problems with using the menu key on the home screen after the update. Others have indicated that the Dell 7-inch, 800×480 is inadequate for Honeycomb, explaining that the screen is too cramped.

We will report back once we receive the upgrade.

iPhone apps downloads grow in Asia, drop in West

Download volumes for iPhone apps have increased in Asian countries while decreasing in Western countries, according to Distimo, a research company which monitors apps sales.

Distimo’s report covers the Apple App Store for iPhone for May 2011, and focuses on insights in market trends that are relevant for developers who want to grow their business in Asia.

The following countries in Asia are included: China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Initial Ipad orders start shipping today!

Apple started  sending out shipment  confirmations on initial orders of wi-fi Ipads, shipping from China for April 3rd delivery.
