Our friends at Base 2 Applications, LLC have released their latest creation Voice Share. Voice Share is a smartphone app that simplifies sharing “voice notes” with your friends and family through SMS messaging and Facebook available for Android and Windows Phone.

Using the app is a breeze, you tap on the big microphone icon to record your voice message, then tap another to share via SMS or Facebook. You can also attach “gifts” (colorful icons) both free and premium versions to your voice recordings to send with your recordings. Please note you are limited to 1 of each type of gift per day. Premium gifts require you to unlock Voice Share premium a 99 cent in app purchase.

When using the SMS feature, Voice Share uploads your audio message to their servers and sends a clickable link via the default carrier SMS app. Here lies my main problem with the application. I do not use my carriers SMS service, I use Google Voice for all of my messaging needs. When I try to send a voice message via SMS there is currently no way to select Google Voice or an alternate SMS application within the Voice Share app.

Paul Benjamin of Base 2 Applications LLC stated that they are looking into integrating other SMS applications in future releases and suggested using copy and paste on the smartphone to copy the link URL into the third party messaging app you want to use. It’s a serviceable although somewhat inconvenient workaround. Thanks for the suggestion Paul!

The simplest way to send voice greetings for birthdays, holidays, or just to say “good luck!” or “I love you” to your friends and family. No account needed – start the app, push record to start talking, and then send your greeting to a friend. You can even post a personalized message on your own Facebook wall.

I can see Voice Share becoming a popular way of sharing voice greetings on Facebook, although personally I don’t think it’s an app that I will be using on a daily basis. What do you think, do you have a need to send voice messages via SMS and Facebook?

You can download Voice Share on Google Play for Android and the Marketplace for Windows Phone.
